Who are we
Nestled in the heart of Lambeth Borough between Brixton town centre and Camberwell LJ adult day centre is a new service in the community. We are a 3 minutes’ walk from Loughborough junction station Thameslink service and 15 minutes away from Brixton station Victoria line, The Day Centre is served by the following buses P4, P5, 35 and 45 from Brixton town centre

Our vision
During the pandemic isolation was a necessity and post COVID pandemic adult isolation has increased as most people lost loved ones and family support due to the impact of COVID. It is a fact that social isolation can significantly contribute to poor health in Adults.
LJ was borne out of a desire to reduce post COVID social isolation in the community by providing a service that is stimulating, engaging and celebrating each individual’s abilities. We provide a service in the community offering companionship, befriending opportunities,care and diversity. We strive to reduce isolation as a norm In late adult life .

At LJ we believe that all Senior citizens must have a chance to live and enjoyn a quality and later life in the Community.

At LJ we offer physical and mentally engaging activities in a warm friendly and vibrant atmosphere. Each day is different LJd with activities for those who are less able and those more able.
Social isolation is intrinsically linked to poor communication skills. fear and confidence erosion. Our activities are stimulating, entertaining. promote confidence building and interaction with other attendees and staff throughout the day.

Opening times
LJ is wheelchair accessible and serves the community 7 days a week including all bank holidays. Our opening hours are from 9 AM to 6 PM. We provide a collection and dr op off service to all attendees who require the service and the minibuses are wheelchair accessible.
LJ has capacity of 20 attendees including 4 wheelchair users

A Typical Day at LJ
Collections service starts at 8AM
On arrival you will have half hour hot drink and biscuits as you settled in and catch-up with other attendees and staff .
930 AM morning activities start.
1 pm lunch nreak. You will be served with a hot meal.
Hot lunch – a nutritious hot lunch is served. Eating healthily is essential as we get older to maintain energy and strength, perfect after a morning of activities
215PM afternoon activities start.
415PM Break for afternoon tea served with sandwich cake or biscuits

545 PM Afternoon activities finish
6PM Minibus departs

Actuvities
Games – You might have the option of playing games like dominoes, draughts or bridge, just to add some lighthearted, competitive fun to the mix.
Exercises – we all need to keep our bodies supple and strong, so strength and flexibility sessions cater for a variety of abilities. Even if you or a loved one has mobility issues, chair-based stretches and strengthening might be the perfect option.
Arts and crafts – are you the creative type? Perhaps you enjoy working with your hands, with some good company thrown in. We aim to make your day as interactive as possible, and activities like knitting and card making add to the enjoyment.
Guest speakers and visits – We will engage guest speakers to provide entertainment for attendees or hold history talks.
Day trips – although attending a centre is often a day out in itself, we plan trips to local points of interest and attractions, a trip to the beach or a riverboat cruise.
Music – remember those golden oldies? They’re sure to induce a healthy dose of nostalgia, conversation and perhaps even some karaoke if you’re feeling brave!
Dancing – alright, so the music’s got you moving and shaking. Perhaps you fancy a little quickstep, Strictly Come Dancing style,
Chiropody – tired feet after all that dancing? We may arrange access to the Communiity Foot Care Team to deal with foot health and nail care.
Medication assistance – staff might sometimes help with administering medication, although this may not always be possible for those with complex needs.
Health checks – We may assist with booking appointments with your GP for health checks. We may also assist with Hospital appointment’s
Befriending service – where a volunteer will meet with you on a regular basis for a friendly chat
